What to see?
Gijón hosts the biggest civil building called La Laboral, where some lucky erasmus will study. It's the home of three beaches San Lorenzo, Poniente and Arbeyal. The city of Gijón is the capital of the "Costa Verde" making the views of San Lorenzo a famous sightseeing. Cimadevilla is the old city of Gijón, it's fisherman origins make it have an special atmosphere, holding at its top an old Bunker system, that used to be a fortress. This neighborhood full of life is the center of the cider and main events. Close by we can find the Palace of Revillagigedo and the townhall with its main plaza.
Museums
In Gijón, there is also a great variety of museums, including:
Museo Evaristo Valle
This museum showcases over 200 works by the Gijón painter Evaristo Valle. Additionally, it features a garden with more than 100 species of trees and shrubs unique in Europe.
Museo Pueblo Asturias
Part of the network of ethnological museums in Asturias, this museum allows you to learn more about the history and customs of Asturias through ethnological collections, photographs, documentation, and musical instruments.
Jardín Botánico
This is the only botanical garden in Asturias, divided into four different environments (Cantábrico, vegetal factory, Atlantic route, and historical garden of the Isla) where you can discover around 30,000 plants and 2,000 different species.
