How to request the CONECTA Transport Card (Asturias)
How to request the CONECTA Transport Card (Asturias) — Erasmus students (no Spanish DNI required)
The CONECTA Card is the public transport card used in Asturias. Erasmus and other international students can request it even if they don’t have a Spanish DNI. In most cases, you can verify your identity using your passport or your national ID card from your home country.
Recommended option: request it online through the CTA CONECTA app
- Download the official app
Go to Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iPhone) and search for “CTA CONECTA”. Install the official app. - Open the app and start the request
Open the app, go to the “Card / Tarjeta” section, and tap “Request card / Solicitar tarjeta”. - Select the request type
Choose “For me” (adult cardholder). Do not select options for minors or legal representatives. Identity verification (important)
You do not need a Spanish DNI. When asked for an ID document, use one of the following:- Passport, or
- National ID card from your country
Follow the instructions to:
- Take a clear photo/scan of your document (all corners visible, not blurry).
- Take a selfie so the system can match your face with the document.
Tip: Use good lighting, avoid reflections, and keep the camera steady.
Fill in your personal details
Complete the form carefully:- Full name (exactly as shown on your passport/ID)
- Email address (double-check spelling — it’s essential)
- Address in Asturias (your flat, residence, or temporary accommodation)
NIE is not required for most Erasmus students to request the card.
- Confirm via email
After submitting the request, you may receive a confirmation email.- Check your Inbox and Spam/Junk folder.
- Follow the instructions in the email if you are asked to confirm any details.
- Receive and use your card
Once your request is approved:- You can use the card to travel on buses and trains in Asturias (depending on the included services).
- The card is personal (do not share it).
- You can top up / recharge it using the available methods in the system.
Common issues (Erasmus)
- I didn’t receive the confirmation email: check Spam/Junk and make sure you typed your email correctly.
- Identity verification fails: try again with better lighting, avoid glare on the document, and ensure photos are sharp and complete.
- I don’t have a Spanish DNI/NIE: you can usually use your passport or EU/EEA national ID.
