The most emblematic monument in Oviedo is the Cathedral. This is a Gothic-style building that began construction in the late 13th century. Inside, several relics are housed, with the Victory Cross standing out, which is the cross on the Asturian flag and one of the most important symbols of the province. 

In addition to the Cathedral, Oviedo is notable for its pre-Romanesque churches, featuring a very special and unique architectural style. Among them are the churches of San Julián de los Prados, San Miguel de Lillo, and Santa María del Naranco. 

Another beautiful place in Oviedo is the Historical Building of the University of Oviedo, inaugurated in 1608. It houses the central services of the University and the central university library. 

A characteristic and interesting aspect of Oviedo is its statues: there are many of them, each with a different style. Oviedo boasts a very pleasant and unique historic center, where many streets are pedestrianized, allowing you to stroll peacefully without worrying about cars. Additionally, there are several noteworthy squares in the city center, such as Plaza del Fontán, where the city's most important market takes place, and Plaza de Trascorrales, a somewhat hidden but beautiful square.
