La Casa de las Lenguas is a center devoted to language teaching. Different courses and activities take place there:

- Courses in Spanish as a foreign language: Spanish language and culture, intensive

courses, cultural activities, etc.

- General language courses: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish sign language .

- Official tests: German (TestDaf), Italian (PLIDA), French (DELF-DALF), Portuguese, (CAPLE) and English (IELTS)

- Tandem program.

- Intensive courses for teachers and administrative and services personnel.

The University of Oviedo has 14 libraries: 11 in Oviedo -distributed over 4 campus- 2 in Gijón and one in Mieres. It also possesses 7 campus distributed between the three university cities (Oviedo, Gijón and Mieres).

Central Library 

The Central Library is in the cloister of the University Historic Building. In that place, there are two reading rooms and a collection of author and Asturian themed publications. The collection consists of more than 600 manuscripts, 23 incunables, more than 1000 books from the 16 th century and a few thousand books from the 17 th and 18 th centuries.
